Introduction: What is a Computer?

Computer, or “personal computer” (PC) is an electronic device that can fetch and execute instructions respectively, to store and retrieval data. The word “computer” is used to both the underlying machine that executes a specific function, or the instruction-executing system consisting of the machine in conjunction with this instructions.
History of Computer
The first computer is considered to be “abacus”, an ancient Chinese calculator. It was first invented in the year 700 B.C. The abacus has been in use for several centuries, and in its prime it was used for accounting. Systolic abacus is a tool used by Greece and Rome for calculation, which can add and subtract numbers as well as multiply them. It was a simple wooden board with several pegs that slide up and down, which are used to represent numbers. This is an early form of the computer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHx0k2FoKj8

The Future and Introduction of Computers as we Know it Today

Computer technology has been advancing since the late 1940s, but computer hardware hardware and software were not a combination until the early 1950s. Computers were used for military purposes and scientific research in the 1950s and 1960s. As transistor technology grew in cost-effectiveness, computer usage began to spread more rapidly. The first “mainframe computer” were introduced in the 1950s, and were designed to do scientific research or store vast amounts of data. Computers began to grow rapidly in development and purchasing power, and by the 1960s they began to be mass-produced. The personal computer (PC), a microprocessor-based machine, reached a tipping point, when PCs like the Apple II gained widespread attention. The late 1970s saw the emergence of the first portable computers. By the late 1990s, Microsoft operating systems held a dominating 90% of market share. The PC era lasted approximately 30 years.

A Brief History of Computers and Things they Have Helped Us with

Computers have been used in the back offices, for all sorts of purposes. Computers can now be found in houses, cars, laboratories and even school yards. Before the computer was invented by John Vincent Atanasoff and Cliff Berry in the 1940s, most people were not familiar with computers. Although the concept of computers dates back to the invention of the abacus in 2400 BC, most people were not familiar with them until they were invented by Atanasoff and Berry.
In the beginning, computers were used for everyday operations in business. They were used to keep track of the amount of money people owed, the number of widgets made per hour and other business related tasks. Once computers became smaller, more advanced and less costly, computers became a part of households in America. In the 1950s, many American families owned a television and electronic organs but not a computer. As time went on and technology advanced and improved, there was enough power in a computer that they could be useful to families outside of business operations.
Many modern homes have built in computers. They are used for entertainment and education. Computers help children learn. They are used to play games that keep children busy and teach them valuable life lessons at the same time. Computers have changed the way many people work.

Notable Firsts and Incidents Associated with Computers and Technology in General

One of the most notable firsts for the computer was the creation of the programmer. The programmer was a machine that could be used to create programs that would run on other computers. Computers were used for space exploration and in weaponry, and before long, they began to be mass-produced. Computers have even gone into outer space—the Apollo Guidance Computer was used in the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The computer has become an indispensable part of our everyday lives, but we still don’t understand them completely. Perhaps one day, we’ll finally develop the technology that will enable us to understand what exactly makes the computer tick. This article will take a look at some notable firsts and incidents associated with computers and technology in general.

Computer Development Timeline- Significant Events That Changed Our World Forever

The first computer that would eventually change the face of computers forever came about in the 1890s. This was the Analytical Engine, designed by Charles Babbage. Although Babbage’s design for a general purpose computer was never built, it provided a key step in designing future computers. The next step in this process would come thirty years later, when a functional automatic computing engine, called the Difference Engine, was built by Babbage. This computer was never sold, but served as a milestone in the development of computers.
The next step in the process of computer development would occur in 1936, when Alan Turing worked out the details of a theoretical machine called a “Turing Machine.” A Turing Machine is much like the Difference Engine, but it can store data. The last major development in computers during this time period was the ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), which used over 18,000 vacuum tubes to create what was essentially an advanced calculator. Although the ENIAC was very large and couldn’t be used to perform many different tasks, it did prove that computers could be made much smaller than they had been previously.
