The basic process involves two steps. The first is to say “yes” to whatever comes up in the moment – when you are struggling with fear, when there is pain and you don’t know how to handle it, when you are feeling shame, etc. It means being able to look at that which is happening and know that it’s okay and accept it, even though it may not seem okay. This can be scary because we subconsciously believe that “I deserve better than this. I should be able to do it better”. Yes I’m afraid, but that doesn’t mean I need to avoid doing something important.” We need to learn how to accept whatever situation we’re in, while at the same time refusing to be a victim of it.

When you are having a hard time with something, try saying “yes” to it. Some people call this the Holy Spirit or God. If you believe in a divine spirit, then you can simply say “Yes” to it. Then let your divine spirit help you feel the feelings and allow them to move through. This can be both enlightening and comforting.

Another way to do this is to get in touch with a deep sense of love. You can think of something or someone that you love and feel all the loving feelings toward that person or thing.
