Introduction: What Are the Benefits of RAA?
Radical acceptance is a process that focuses on consciously living your life from a place of love and non-judgment. It can be challenging because it also means not struggling with fear and shame which is underneath all of our defenses and masks. The benefits are vast, but the most difficult in learning this process is shifting our mindset. It is not to be confused with religion, belief systems or spiritual practices. The fact is radical acceptance is a process which can be practiced on a daily basis. It can be done individually, but it is also extremely useful to learn with a group of like-minded people.
Radical acceptance training in Vancouver works with your subconscious mind and conscious to get you to accept yourself as you are with all your eccentricities, strengths and weaknesses, both big and small. It can take some time to fully accept who you are without judgement or clinging onto what you believe is right or wrong. Radical acceptance can be difficult because we have been taught that we should not be accepting of ourselves as we are. Rather, we should strive for perfection and not settle for anything but our highest potential. Radical acceptance is about learning to accept ourselves as we are with all our idiosyncrasies and mistakes – huge or small – as well as our strengths, passions and uniqueness. Best of all, we can accept ourselves for who we are without any judgement or clinging on to who “should” be us.

Why Should I Learn Radical Acceptance?
How to Implement a Radical Acceptance Awaking Technique in Your Life
The basic process involves two steps. The first is to say “yes” to whatever comes up in the moment – when you are struggling with fear, when there is pain and you don’t know how to handle it, when you are feeling shame, etc. It means being able to look at that which is happening and know that it’s okay and accept it, even though it may not seem okay. This can be scary because we subconsciously believe that “I deserve better than this. I should be able to do it better”. We need to learn that “I don’t have to reject anything – I can just be with what is, and accept it.” This is a critical aspect of radical acceptance.
The second step is to say “yes, but” in the face of any automatic response or resistance that arises. You can do this either silently inside your head or out loud – whichever you are comfortable with. “Yes, this is what is going on for me, but I don’t have to like it. Yes, there is pain, but it’s not my fault or problem. Yes I’m afraid, but that doesn’t mean I need to avoid doing something important.” We need to learn how to accept whatever situation we’re in, while at the same time refusing to be a victim of it.

When you are having a hard time with something, try saying “yes” to it. For example, if you are struggling with cutting yourself, then say yes to the fact that you cut yourself and yes to the feelings which come up in your mind and body. This can be scary because we subconsciously believe that “I deserve better than this. I should be able to do it better”. If you keep saying yes – very clearly and consciously – then your subconscious will eventually accept that this is all okay. You will start to believe that you are worthy of being happy and that you deserve to be happy.
It sounds odd but it’s pretty simple. Say Yes. Then, give yourself permission to express the feelings that come up in your mind and body in this situation. Once you have let go of the resistance – which can be quite intense at first – allow yourself to feel the feelings in your body and mind without getting caught up in thoughts about “I shouldn’t be feeling this way”. Simply feel the feelings as they come up and let them naturally move through.
One way to help you to say “yes” is saying YES to your divine spirit. This comes from a belief in an omnipresent, omniscient divine spirit that is always ready and willing to help. Some people call this the Holy Spirit or God. If you believe in a divine spirit, then you can simply say “Yes” to it. Then let your divine spirit help you feel the feelings and allow them to move through. This can be both enlightening and comforting.

Another way to do this is to get in touch with a deep sense of love. You can think of something or someone that you love and feel all the loving feelings toward that person or thing. Or, you can just tap into your own deep sense of love, which is actually your very essence and being – and access the energy, which is actually God’s love, that loves you unconditionally.
It sounds simple, and it actually is. It’s one of the most powerful truths that you can discover in your life.
Let’s explore more about this. The first question we should ask is: What does God’s love feel like? What does it look like? Where can we experience God’s love? How can we practice this? [Pause] The next question has to do with the dynamics of love.
Love is a combination of both giving and receiving. Think about this for a moment. Imagine that you are a child and suddenly you’re unloved (for whatever reason). What does it feel like? You probably feel lost, confused, not belonging, hurt. And the most important question here is: How did this happen?
You can’t just say: “Well, my parents were crazy.” No. The question here is: “How do I get that love back?” What to do? Turn the focus on yourself. How can you make the parent or parents love you? How can you make them happy? What do they need? What do they want to see in you? How can you please them (or get their attention)?
