It is probably not entirely shocking to learn that I am a huge fan, since the game itself provides many opportunities for creativity and innovation. The game’s creation and customizing systems have spawned countless new items and creative ways to play. The game’s ability to create 3D environments has allowed for more expansive and detailed worlds to be created than anyone could have imagined. And the core gameplay? It just makes you feel awesome no matter what direction you choose to go in. The only things I think could be improved is allowing the player to move faster and making the game a little less buggy, though these complaints are minor compared to the rest of the game.
This essay will be an exploration of one aspect of ‘crafting’ in Minecraft: crafting inspired creations. There are, of course, many other aspects to the game that have been covered many times previously. This article does not intend to be comprehensive – I will be skipping over a lot of the crafting information provided in the game as well as a number of recipes. There are, however, a number of things about crafting in Minecraft that I consider inspiring, and this essay examines one such idea – an entire world made of diamonds.

1. What is a minecraft sensation?

Minecraft’s most popular mode is survival, which provides the user with the opportunity to survive in a generated world. The main goal of survival-mode Minecraft is to stay alive. To do this one must mine resources and get food by killing monsters. These actions create the basic game play experience which leads to whatever new achievement or exploration that a player chooses to pursue.
Although the game itself is simple, there are thousands of achievements that can be pursued and an unlimited number of adventures to be had.
At the time of this writing, there are over 1,500 achievements at http://www.minecraftachievements.com/v/category/1-6/. That is not including all the other locations for achievements such as: online media releases (e.g., videos), websites that track players’ achievements in-game, etc. The vast number of achievements and non-achievement goals in Minecraft all serve to create a sensation that, as the founder stated, “keeps going and going.”
The game itself is available today on mobile devices, on multiple gaming platforms including home computer versions (e.g., Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS X, Linux), and even on video game consoles (e.g., Xbox 360).

2. How do Minecrafters get discovered?

Minecraft is a game that is completely made up of content created and shared by the Minecraft community. Content creators get discovered when someone sees a creation that he/she likes and passes it on for others to see. Most commonly, this occurs when an experienced “veteran” Minecraft player runs into something new and interesting, which warrants passing that along to their friends. If that veteran has a good reputation, then their new find will have a better chance of being noticed by others.
There are also many videos, livestreams, and podcasts that showcase Minecraft creations. One of the most common methods to get discovered is to create a video or post pictures on a forum or website where players can access it. Again, if the content is interesting enough, it will be seen by others and passed around.
Additional exposure is also gained through social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. Players can share content on these websites and boost the popularity of their creations.
Players also have the option to submit their content to Minecrafter spotlight websites, like Minecrafts.com. This is a great way to reach thousands of new fans each day.

3. What are the most common ways for a Minecrafter to gain an audience?

The Minecraft community is very active in the creation of new content. Normally, when a player sees something cool, they will take a screenshot, then upload it to their favorite social network (e.g. Twitter, Facebook) to share with their friends and followers. The popularity of Minecraft content creators has given way to many popular websites becoming dedicated to these types of creations (e.g. Tumblr, deviantArt) as well as user-generated Minecraft Wiki’s and image hosting sites (e.g. imgur, Flickr). The latter two websites have enabled Minecraft content creators to gain a large audience.
In addition to player-created media, Minecraft communities actively produce and share original content. This can be anything from a video of YouTube Let’s Players playing modded Minecraft, music videos made with original Minecraft soundtrack songs, to webcomics based on the game.
A good share of Minecraft players also actively participate in discussions for the game on various forums (e.g. the Official Forum). These conversations often become quite long and take multiple pages to complete, due to their specific nature. In addition, people will sometimes create posts in the discussion threads to spread their ideas. This can take up a significant amount of time and other players may not see the original post for a long time.

4. Who starts game sensations today and how do they start them?

A game sensation can be started by anybody. They are often new players who just happened to see one of the more popular Minecraft communities (such as Twitter) and took a screenshot, or they have been following the overall community trend. However, a game sensation is usually started by experienced players because they know that their strategy will be well received. In other words, If a player knows that the new item or creation is something that people will want to start playing with, then they are likely to share it widely with their friends for others to see. The Minecraft sensation is then born.
The Minecraft community is now more aware of the phenomenon than ever before, but continues to provide support for any new players who are willing to share their creations. This is because, as historically been assured many times by the Mojang team, “there is always room for more players.”
In addition to supporting new players, it’s also really important that experienced players do not get jealous of new game sensations. If an experienced player thinks that their creation is not yet good enough to be shared with others, then they can always work towards improving it over time. Again, the advantage of Minecraft is that it never has to end, so there’s always something new to work towards.
