Introduction: This Week’s Midnight at the Pera Palace Season 2 Release Date
The second season of the Turkish drama Midnight at the Pera Palace is coming back to TV channels this week on October 25th, and it’s been a long wait. The series which recreates 1920s Istanbul in all its glory was first aired in September 2015. Since then, fans have been posting about the drama on social media, sharing hashtags and memes.
However, the premiere of the season 2 has been postponed due to a terrorist attack that took place in Ankara, where 102 people were killed and hundreds more injured. The shooting occurred during a peace rally organized by trade unions, NGOs and opposition groups. While the event was commemorating victims of the 2015 Suruç bombing in Istanbul, for which Daesh was held responsible, a second explosion occurred at the site of the rally.
The season premiere was delayed in order to mourn the deaths of the victims.

When it first came out, the series was praised for its historical accuracy and attention to detail. It was filmed in Istanbul, so all the places are real, from Sultan Ahmet square to Pera Palace Hotel where the indoor scenes were filmed. There’s also a documentary which is included with the DVD set featuring interviews with cast members, and fans love that they took the time to get the story right. That caught the attention of audiences, who appreciated that they were being transported back in time to an era they didn’t know much about. The second season, which is filmed at the same locations, has been shooting since August this year and it was supposed to be aired in September. It will now premiere on October 25th, 2016 at 10pm Eastern Time, 9pm Central, 8pm Mountain and 7pm Pacific Time. This is a new date change from the originally scheduled release date of September 1st. It’s unclear why that is but fans are already wondering if it has to do with the new season’s content.
The storyline is a little different this time around though. In season 1, from daycare to elementary school, Junie and Annie were young girls just trying to fit in. In season 2, it’s about how they leave their childhood behind and grow up fast. From school to college, there’s a lot of tough decisions for them to make as they try to raise a family. They’ve moved out of Pera Palace Hotel and have purchased a huge, newly-renovated mansion named Villa Gabriella. They’re now trying to make the most of their adulthood while they still can.
