blogs: The Rocking and Falling of an Artist?

The art of writing a blog is not a common one. It takes talent, creativity and great writing ability to be able to form your thoughts into something that is engaging and meaningful for others. I am often taken aback by how enthralling and moving blogs can be- there are a lot of talented writers out there. It is a very dynamic art form, and I feel like it’s really come into its own over the last few years. Of course, there is always an audience for writing prose, yet somehow I feel like it is more difficult to gain recognition if you write an essay or novel. The word “blog” seems to me to be almost synonymous with “humour”. A blog is something that you write when you have something clever or important to say, but you don’t have the time or inclination to string a novel together about it. However, I think that in recent years it has become a lot harder for people to gain recognition via blogs. The internet is so full of random posts, half-finished posts and posts with no point whatsoever. In a way, it is a shame because I think it has been so influential in recent years.

books: A Tale of Two Rockers

I don’t know about you, but when I was younger I used to love it when my mom would read to me. She would read anything she could find, especially if it was a book that held my attention and made me want to hear more. I would go on and on about it, and try to memorize the characters or the plot. I used to have a ridiculous number of books that I would read until they were worn out. I had many books in my room in college, but it was very easy for me to lose interest when most of them weren’t captivating. My favorite books, however, were always the ones that had my mom read them to me.
I still like being read to. I have started to fall out of the habit of asking my mom for that, but no matter what I turn to, it makes me feel safe and secure when someone reads to me. Last week, I finally decided to read a book that held my attention and made me want to keep reading. It was titled “A Tale of Two Rockers” by Andy Dunn.
It’s not something I would have picked up on my own, but several people had recommended it to me, so I gave it a shot. It’s really cool how the author compares the two rock bands; Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses. You can tell he is a fan of both groups. He goes on and tells about some of the things that shaped him as a person and what he has learned from both groups. He also shares a lot about his own background with the rock bands, which is really cool. There’s also loads of pictures in this book that help you visualize the stories he tells about their time together.
