After the download is complete, follow the onscreen prompts to install Office 365 on your computer. If you are not signed in with a Microsoft account when you download Office 365, you will be asked to register and create an account. If you have an existing Microsoft account, you can use your existing email address and password. If you are not sure whether your computer meets the system requirements for Office 365, or whether your organization has a subscription to Office 365, contact your organization’s IT department. After you set up a Microsoft account (or if you already have one) and sign in with it, open the email message that contains the download links to Office 365 apps. Overall, the Office 365 installation process will go fairly quickly, but some of the deeper features (such as Skype for Business Online, SharePoint Online, and Yammer) might take a bit longer to install. Otherwise, installation takes only a few minutes. Keep in mind that the time it takes to install these software products will depend on your Internet connection speed and the number of cloud services you have signed up for.
During installation, you’ll be prompted to download updates and add-ons, so plan to have ample time to complete all of the steps in the process. And keep in mind that once you’ve installed Office 365, some parts of it might require Internet connectivity after installation and might not be fully functional until they are fully installed. For example, in the first phase of installation, you’ll have to install Lync Online, which includes Skype for Business Online. If you can’t reach your Internet connection during installation, simply click the available option to “Install later” when prompted.
