Introduction: What does it take to let go of everything and start from the beginning?

Many people feel like they can’t let go. They need more of what they already know. The same patterns and ways of being over and over again. Others may feel an unexplainable pull to stay in the past, rehash the story and try to change it or just live it a different way. What is so special about staying? What’s really worth grasping on to? It’s always about the past and what it will bring. It’s about we only get lucky once, expecting something that never comes. It’s about clinging to nothingness. It’s about feeling like you have to stay a certain way, must remain stuck from where you are to where you got. It’s about who you were, where you were and how you feel. It’s about not seeing what’s in front of you and not being able to move on. Letting go is the hardest thing to do sometimes but it has a way of solving the most difficult problems.

Five Ways to Let Go and Start Over in 2018

If you have been on the fence about your personal well-being and sense of direction, let’s shift the perspective away from what is holding you back and focus on what is available. You don’t need to be stuck in the belief that everything has to be done in a certain way, or that it has to happen exactly this way. Change is inevitable. 4 Steps for Letting Go of Your Old Life

Make a list of what you want to change: If you can’t let go of something, it’s because deep down inside you want something else. Something may be holding you back, but it’s not worth your time and energy to keep digging into that. Make a list of what needs to be changed about the things that are holding you back: The more specific the better. Take the time to really think about each situation. The steps to letting go of your old life may be different, but the themes are the same. Once you make a list of your real goals, you can begin to let go of your old ways and embrace new ones.
3.Exercise: Go through and edit each item on your list, one or two items at a time.
4.Reflect on each item: How did it feel when you saw that item on your list? Why do you have that item on your list in the first place? With this reflection, you’ll be able to gain greater insight into the situation, and help yourself find a new perspective about what really needs to be changed about your life.

Writing about something brings it to light, providing another level of understanding and allowing you to see it clearly. It can also be enlightening for those around you. By writing about something, you can clarify what needs to change in your life by expressing your feelings, thoughts and philosophies on the issue in a more organized manner.
