Introduction and Background for the Essay

On a day to day basis, it’s difficult to find time for yourself. Whether it be because of work, school or other responsibilities, often times we sacrifice our own happiness just so we can get what we need done. We can sometimes feel as if we have no space in our lives for ourselves. For example, there are times when we can feel as if our days are being swallowed up by society. In those moments, I often find myself needing to retreat into my own thoughts. I wish that I could somehow fit the craziness of my days into some sort of neat little box. A small classification that would allow me to take a step back and just laugh at how much is happening all at once. And then one day something happened that helped me realize I was always allowed to do what I wanted with my time. It was one of the most simple things, but also one of the most profound. I was sitting in class on a day which I had been dreading for months. It was during our highly educational yet painfully annoying history class. But then something happened that made me stop and think about my life. We were talking about an important moment in a leader’s career and the speaker asked us to follow her on a memory journey back to that day.

Dr. Peterson Provides Valuable Insight on How to Overcome Stress and Find Meaning in Life

In order to overcome this, psychologist and professor Jordan B. Peterson suggests that we actively start thinking about what it is that gives us meaning in life. This includes activities as simple as cooking a nice meal for your loved ones, going for a walk outside or spending time with your family. Doing activities like these will give you perspective on the problems you face in life and allow you to really appreciate the things you have. This will help you get perspective on your own problems and find meaning in them in order to effectively deal with whatever life throws at you.
Another tip from Dr. Peterson is to accept what you can change, but stop worrying about it. We all have certain problems in our lives that we cannot fix, for example, the fact that a loved one has passed away or some other similar personal tragedy. It is essential to stop worrying about these things and learn to move on. This applies to problems as simple as a bad day at work or as complex as your spouse leaving you.
