Life is not easy. We are not naturally the best at anything, and our successes depend on what we make of them. But there are some things that are far more important than how hard we worked to get there.
One of the best ways that we have to determine a person’s true character is by what happens when things get tough. When the outcome is not certain and there are things that we must overcome, that’s when we truly find out what kind of person we are.
There are two types of people in this world; those who will be successful in life, and those who will not be. The difference is found in how they handle disappointment.
New Year’s Resolution: Why You Should Not Pray for an Easy Life in 2019
We are not meant to sit around and do nothing. We are meant to challenge ourselves, push our limits and make the most of what we have. We should aspire to do great things with little resources. Every time we give it our best effort, we will receive great results. It is only through suffering that we progress and become better people. We are only able to grow through challenges and adversities.
If you want to achieve something, if you really want to get somewhere in life, there is no other way than to face challenges head on. You should not ever make resolutions which involve simplicity. Simple is the last thing we should aspire for. Making a resolution is a literal manifestation of God’s grace. He will help you and he will guide you with his powers, through your own strength, through your perseverance and faith in him. You do not need to put your faith in vague promises and grandiose hopes. You do not need to wait for anyone or anything to grant you success and happiness. Success is an achievement and it can be achieved by anybody who is willing to work hard and face challenges. The Lord will give you the strength when you place your faith in him.
Do you want to practice humility? Do you want to learn how to be a better person? In 2019, there’s no need to pray for an easy life. We should instead pray for the strength of character and wisdom to endure the difficult times that are sure to come along.
Lack of grace(9:22-24): If a person who previously lived in a good way suddenly decides to follow a bad path, he/she is called an apostate. In fact, this day is one that makes the difference between being a good or bad person.
To realize the need for humility, we can refer to the following passage in Matthews:
36 Then Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?” 37 And he said to them, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
What is the need for humility?
The true function of prayer is to humble ourselves (Matthew 5: 16-18) . For this reason we pray so that God can help us understand our weaknesses, and every time we realize this, we will be humbled (Matthew 6:6-8). Imperfection requires humility, because without it we cannot repent (Romans 3:15).
