#2 How to Use Your Kindle or Tablet as a Reading Device
Many people let the convenience and portability of their tablet serve as a reading device. They load up their favorite e-books on the device, download an app to organize them, and then use it like a small tablet. For those who want to read in bed or on vacation, there’s no need for anything but your Kindle. Simply use the Kindle app to download your favorite book and enjoy it anywhere with 3G wireless access.
If you’re using an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Oasis, you have the added advantage of a built-in adjustable light. It provides enough light to read by at night, but it’s not so bright that it causes strain on your eyes when reading in bed. The higher quality screen resolution on both of these devices also protects your eyes from the strain of excessive eyestrain that comes with reading on a tablet.
#3 How I Used My Kindle as My Reading Device for 8 Months
Over the past 8 months, I had an old Kindle 3 that I’d started using as a pocket reading device. One of the main problems was that I often wanted to read more than one book at a time, and with only 8GB storage on the device, it was difficult to store all of my books. I had a 50 book backlog of fiction and non-fiction that I wanted to read. In addition, I had a lot of books that were older than eight years old that I’d downloaded for the Kindle simply because I’d wanted to read them. Whenever I started reading a book, I would often get lost in it and forget about my backlog of old books.
I also had an Android phone with a Kindle app installed on it that allowed me to read books on the phone through the wireless network of my home. The phone was also able to browse the Kindle store and purchase books, transferring them over via USB once purchased. Unfortunately, it was not practical to carry a phone around with me when I traveled.
Then there were times when I found myself looking for a book on the Kindle store and there wasn’t anything that I wanted to read. The solution: The Kindle app for my Android phone was able to “sync” with my device and download ebooks that weren’t available for purchase. I then had a library of books on my phone that I read when I needed to travel and didn’t have any books with me.
#4 3 Ways My Mom Helped Me Lose Weight When She Read More Books than Usual
For the past month or so, my mom has been reading more than she’s used to. She’s been growing her Kindle ebook digital library and loading up on books that she wants to read that are waiting for her on her kindle reader. And she’s noticed a difference in her weight loss. She’s dropped nearly 5 pounds; her clothes are looser and she feels better.
My mom and I have always done our best to read a lot. She reads more than me because she loves books. When I was growing up, my mom read more than my dad. Then around the time that I started working, she picked up her reading again and became a voracious consumer of books once again. She’s always read more than my dad, and I don’t think that that’s a coincidence.
I get excited every time I see her with a book because it means that she is making another step in her health journey. It doesn’t matter what she is reading: a romance novel, self help or even business books. She’s always making a habit to read when she gets the chance, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can help her lose as much weight as possible.
#5 5 Ways I’ve Made More Money Using an Online Book Club than with Traditional Book Sales
I’ve been reading more and more of my books through the Kindle book club. With 12 books on my Kindle, I have 14 more books in the queue for me to read in the next month with no additional cost. But I have to pay the $29.95 per month rent on all of them and they cost me $1.99 each when I buy them online via Amazon. I don’t have to go to the bookstore, which costs more than the Kindle book club. I can read when it’s convenient for me and my schedule and I don’t have to worry about waiting for the books to be delivered or if they are damaged on their way to me. I don’t have to worry about my books being checked out of the library. I can read more than one of my books at a time and I don’t wait for them to be returned before they are ready to check out another.
What’s the catch?
Well, there really is no catch. But you have to know what you are doing and know how to avoid getting caught or disadvantaged by the membership policy. I know some of you don’t like to read nonfiction books and would rather be reading fiction, but I write nonfiction so it works for me!
Here are my top 5 ways I’ve made more money using an online book club than with traditional book sales:
